Coronet Peak is a fantastic place and has multiple places you can stop to get great photos. The views you get are phenomenal! And no matter what the season it’s a great choice. But if you are looking for snow shots, or want snow capped mountains then Winter is the time to come.
Skippers Canyon. Up the Coronet Peak road you can also get to Skippers Canyon, another awesome location. It’s a historic and scenic gorge, carved out by the Shotover River. And in this remote location rugged rock and tussocks fill the vista.

Helicopter Locations: Cecil Peak, this one you need a helicopter to get to, but it is completely worth it! Although if you have all day and you are pretty fit then you can take a water taxi over and hike up. Cecil Peak reaches a height of 1,978 metres. It is on the south side of Lake Wakatipu south-southwest of Queenstown, and has views of the Lake Wakatipu and surrounded by mountains.
